Getting around in Munich

The easiest ways to get around in Munich are by S-Bahn (local train) or underground or by tram. Information can be found on the public transportation website.

A week ticket (IsarCard-Woche) costs EUR 12,10 for the innercity (2 rings). One can also buy tickets separate for each trip, or buy a so-called "Streifenkarte" (stripe ticket). The Streifenkarte contains 10 "Streifen" (stripes) and costs EUR 11,50. It can be bought at the vending machines (the blue button with the black stripes). One can stamp it in the tram or bus, or at the S-Bahn/underground stations. With two stripes, one can get to most places around the inner city of Munich. If you travel two stops or less by S-Bahn or underground or 4 stops or less by tram, it costs only one stripe. Day tickets (Single-Tageskarte) cost EUR 5,20 for the innercity ("Innenraum"). .

From Airport to Central Station

The easiest and cheapest way to get from the airport (Flughafen) to the central station (Hauptbahnhof) is by S-Bahn. Two lines depart from the airport approximately every 10 minutes: S1 and S8. Both take about 45 minutes to the central station. Just follow the green signs with the letter "S" to get to the platform. A single ticket (for 4 zones) costs EUR 9,60, and can be bought at the vending machines or at the desk near the escalators to the platform.

From Central Station to TGC

You can either walk to the TGC location, or take the underground. If you go by underground trains, you need to take line U2 in direction "Milbertshofen" or "Feldmoching", and get out at the first stop ("Koenigsplatz"). The U2 departs approximately every five-ten minutes. Walking from Koenigsplatz to the TGC location takes about one minute.

From Schwabing to TGC

You can take bus 100 from stop "Maxvorstadt" in direction "Hauptbahnhof Nord", and get out at "Koenigsplatz", from which it is only about one minute walking to TGC. Alternatively, you can take tram 27 in direction "Schwanseestrasse" and get out at "Karolinenplatz". Tram 27 drives along the Barer Strasse. Walking to the TGC location from Karolinenplatz takes about 5-10 minutes.
