1. The intention behind this work is to provide a software design for the following szenario :

 
• The information contained inside source code of the specific language is to be transformed into parse-trees optionally decorated with semantic information. Those parse-trees are to be made persistent, by storing them inside a database.  
  
  
• The data stored inside a database can be retrieved (e.g. by means of an applet) by embedding language specific query options into the database interface.
  
  
• Language specific development systems (eg. interpreter, IDE) can access components inside a database by implementing the corresponing interface supplied by the framework 
  
  
• An interface for the translation of parse-trees between different languages is available.
  
  
• Interfaces for parsing and unparsing source code and the exchange of components with interpreters or compilers is available
  
  
• The framework contains mechanisms enabling all tools participating in the processing of language components to be running in a distributed network environment.
 



2. To supply such a framework the following interfaces and protocols are to be designed :
   
   
• Interface for exchanging language components through a network
  
  
• Interface for communication with IDEs
  
  
• Interface for embedding  parsers, compilers e.t.c. for the specific language
  
  
• Interface for communication with databases
  
  
• Interface for implementing language specific database queries
 




3. To validate the design of the framework the following parts are to be implemented as prototypes (Java) :
   
   
• Exchange of LEGO components through the network (CORBA, RMI)
  
  
• Interface to a LEGO IDE (DA Steppich)
  
  
• parsing and unparsing of LEGO source code
  
  
• Storage of LEGO components inside a OODB (ObjectStore)
  
  
• Implementation of a frontend for LEGO specific queries  (Applet)
